Acrylic painting HELP PLEASE?

i really wanna take painting but i can't even draw a square lol im not a good drawer but if you want to take painting like ACRYLICS do you have to know how to draw? i'm taking acrylics for summer ...Acrylic painting HELP PLEASE?

Drawing is the foundation. If you want to have the painting look like something, then you need to take drawing. My Painting I professor complained about students not knowing what perspective, shading, or highlighting was. (Drawing was a prerequisite for painting at the community college.)





If you do not want to paint realistically, then you do not need to take a class. Just get some primed canvas and throw paint on it. Then you swirl the paint around until it kind of looks like something, maybe. Then you call it abstract art and say that it is done!
No, you don't need to know how to draw to paint with acrylics. The best things about acrylics are that they dry quickly and that they are easy to paint over if you make mistakes... so you don't have to worry if you mess up.

Acrylic painting is a blast to work with. I love it, i use it all the time. I actually can draw, but i know that acrylics are quite easy to do. I think you should do it anyway, because who knows, maybe it'll improve your drawing skills, and you may love it as much as i do!!

if your wanting to draw a specific object with detail then yes, i always draw out a rough sketch of how it will look like before i paint





but you could look into abstract paintings, google images for abstract paintings and youll see what im talking about) with abstract its all about color combinations and how you arrange those colors, its not an object but just space (abstract)
You don't have to know how to draw to have fun using acrylic paint. If you're taking a class, it can be more of a social experience than anything. And you'll probably learn a few things too. =)

Any one can draw you just need to get out of the mind frame that a human is a stick man.. and learn to draw what you see. I don't think you'd need to know how to draw, it just helps.
I've painted for years and have made some beautiful paintings without having any good drawing skills. I use a grid or trace the picture on canvas using graphite paper.
