i was thinking about getting them for the summer, but i wanted to know how much you have to matain them and how badly they damage your nails afterward. Also, how much do they cost?Acrylic nails?
Right as a nail tech I can tell you acrylic nails should not damage your own nails but unfortunately most will especially if you go to none registered salons. They take off too much of your own nail surface to get the acrylic to adhere. Go to a reputable salon and ask about having your nails done but let them know your concerns. If a nail tech comes anywhere near you with an electric file/drill to use across your natural nail head for the door. All you need is one/two sweeps over the nail with a light buffer to remove the shine and decent prep to get acrylic to adhere but that takes time and chop shop salons want you in and out in as little time as possible.
Alternatively start loving your hands and nails now and have your own beautiful set of natural nails for the summer. My steps to beautiful natural nails.......
1) Use a decent cuticle oil at least twice daily, one with jojoba and/or vitamin E would be the best. Use it morning and night and every time your hands get wet for best results.
2) Wear rubber gloves for all washing up and cleaning jobs and gardening gloves for heavy jobs
3) Invest in a glass nail file, they are very fine so are gentle and with good care will last forever. They are also hygienic as you can sterilise them.
Once grown your nails will need a bit of TLC so keep them at a managable length, wear a nail strengthening product (sally hansens are good without being overpriced) and if you intend to wear colours always wear a base coat to stop the natural nail staining and a top coat to protect from wearing and chipping.
Hope this helpsAcrylic nails?
it depends on what design, color, ect. you pt on your nail the cost ranges from $15-$35 ...and you can keep on getting refills but thats up to you..you dnt have to though...and it will only damage them for like a couple of weeks after you take them off and then they go back to normal...well hope that helps
